I got a root canal over the weekend... super fun stuff right???????? Friday you probably heard me whining about my toothache... well by the time I got home it was so bad I had to take a painkiller that my boyfriend had from his massive hand injury (which is healing quite nicely by the way)... So Saturday morning first thing I went to Columbia Dental and they checked me out... and just as I suspected, I needed a root canal. I wasn't all that alarmed though, other than the fact that I know it's going to cost a lot, because I had one a few years ago and the pain was not all that unbearable during/after the fact... and I was fine by that night.
However, this was not nearly as easy as the other one... The doc was great, she numbed me up as much as she could but it just wasn't working enough... I could feel it the deeper she got into the root of my tooth, and it HURT. Then just when she was getting close to being done, it started bleeding, which was weird because there was nothing there that should have been bleeding... she used the word "hemmoraging" which is always scarier than bleeding... my jaw was so freaking sore I thought I would never be able to eat again!!! She ended up having to stop because she didn't want to keep me in pain and continue to irritate my already inflamed nerves/tooth/root... so she closed it up and I have to go back in a week to get the root canal finished. Meanwhile, its not nearly as painful but my jaw is still sore and my tooth is still sensitive... I went in all ballsy since the last time I was FINE within a few hours of having it done, and this time I sufferred!!! I still can't open my mouth all the way to eat (which isn't necessarily a bad thing!) and I can't chew with that side of my mouth. So yeah, Saturday was not a fun day. I went home and took painkillers and dozed off.
Sunday was my boyfriend's sister's bridal shower... it was a lot of fun, I felt bad I was out of commission most of Saturday so I couldn't help more with the preparations, but everything looked great and we had tons of good food, she got a ridiculous amount of gifts, and we had fun playing some bridal shower games.
Today we went to see our friend in the rehab center he's at... I told you one of the troopers hurt in that accident is one of my boyfriend's BFFs... he's still in a lot of pain and will be for a while, he can't even try to walk for 8 weeks!!!! He's at a place where mostly elderly people are to recover from broken bones or illnesses... it is bad enough to be in one of those places when you are old, let alone being a 30 something year old active person... he's in good spirits though and has a lot of visitors which is great... but I just can't imagine being stuck there for so long!!! I suppose it could be a lot worse given what happened... so keep him in your thoughts, it is not easy and he has a long way to go!
Other than that not much is up. Just continuing to settle into the new place... tomorrow we're going to meet some of the neighbors, there's a 5 year old girl that lives 2 houses down, so Kyla will be psyched to have a new friend to play with!
